discussed last lesson)
What was on the handout Jack gave Miss Santos? (10 different situations)
Why are Jack and Amy at the school? (they might remember that Jack and Amy are there for
a talk – if not explain that’s the purpose of their visit)
What do you think they want to talk about? (bullying / identifying bullying / what we can do
about bullying)
Discuss the title of the section.
Ask:
What do you think is happening in room 101? (accept logical answers)

Before reading
Say and ask:
The numbers of a few of the pictures in the
handout are mentioned.
Scan the text to find the ones you see. Write
them down in your notebooks ( 5, 4, 6, 10)
HOTS Look at the handout, which of these did
you think were bullying?
HOTS Which weren’t in your opinion?
Let’s read and find out.

Paragraph 1
Ask:
How many of the pictures are bullying according to the boy in the back? (0)
Why do you think he says this? (he thinks it’s okay to hurt others)
How many are really pictures of bullying? (8)
Paragraph 2
Ask:
Why is picture 5 not about bullying? (because friends often tease each other)
Why is picture 4 not about bullying? (because it was by accident)
Think a minute about Josh.
When the boy trips him or fouls him, is that by accident? (no)
So is it bullying? (yes)
