to the definition they wrote. This will help them remember the context as well. For more ideas, go

Reading
Have the students read the first paragraph.
Ask:
What did the kids find in the park? (a flashlight, some cut-down trees, a road that’s being
built, a piece of paper)
What’s on the piece of paper that Sasha found? (a plan of a neighbourhood)
Where does the road on the paper lead to? (the lake)
Which lake is it? (the lake in the park)
Have the students read the second paragraph.
Ask:
What is on the new sign? (a sign for the new neighbourhood)
Where are they building the new neighbourhood? (in the park)
Why does Kate say “That’s why the animals are disappearing!”? What does she suddenly
understand? (The company building the neighbourhood is destroying the animals’ habitat.)
What does Ella present on her laptop? (a report by Robert)
What is Robert talking about? (the kids in Seaside)
Why are Tom and Kate surprised at the end? (because Ella also knows Robert)
After Reading
Ask:

learned.)
