MATHEMATICS CONTINUED
INDEPENDENT STUDY IN MATH:
COLLEGE ALGEBRA
This course helps students maintain and extend algebra
skills in preparation for college-level Algebra or other
college-level math courses. It includes a study of all types
of functions, inequalities, logarithms, and polynomials. An
emphasis is placed on graphing all of the types of functions.

Prerequisites: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
PRE-CALCULUS HONORS
This course moves at a rapid pace, and students are expected to do some
independent learning. Course topics include functions, matrices, the nature
of graphs and polynomial equations, trigonometric functions and identities,
vectors, conics, sequences and series, limits, and probability.

CALCULUS HONORS
This is an introductory course in differential and integral Calculus with
elementary functions. Successful students are those with strong problem-solving
skills with a solid foundation in Algebra. Significant outside-of-class preparation
is required. Topics are presented using graphical, numerical, algebraic, and
verbal approaches with an emphasis on the use of appropriate technology.

PERSONAL FINANCE
This course covers different investments, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual
funds, basic tax regulations, income-tax returns, how to complete tax-related
documents, personal budgeting, check writing, balancing checkbooks, and
understanding different banking options. Terminology in all areas is reinforced
and assessed regularly. Students are expected to complete various independent
and group-related projects to explore the concepts further.
