Sir John Lawes School
Sociology
Board: AQA (7192)
INTRODUCTION
Sociology is the study of the development and structure of society. It is a fascinating subject, taking in
topics such as whether the police are racist, whether childhood is ‘toxic’ and damaging to British children,
and how the media influences our views on people from different backgrounds to us. You will answer
questions about the ever-changing society we live in, such as:
·Why is marriage declining?
·Why do girls outperform boys at GCSE?
·What is the best way to deal with criminal behaviour?
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Since Sociology is a new course in the Sixth Form you will almost certainly have no previous experience of
the subject in school. We do however require you to achieve at least grade 4 or above in English at

It will also help if you:

·Want to discuss issues in the news that affect our society
