Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality (AR) blurs the boundaries
between our physical surroundings and the digital
world. At the workplace, AR creates a new interface
with information and applications that is more
convenient and natural than any touchscreen or
keyboard could ever be. Whilst early consumer
AR experiments such as Google Glass failed to live
up to their hype, the smart money is now on the
technology gaining real traction in the workplace.
According to a study by Zion Research, the global AR
market was worth around US$ 3.33 billion in 2015
and is expected to reach US$ 134 billion in 2021,
growing at a CAGR of 85 percent.
AR really comes into its own helping immerse
remote teams into physical project situations in
real-time. The new technology will likely transform
the overall employee experience by connecting
people, information and applications across an
organisation. More and more organisations are
already experimenting with AR to complement and
improve business processes in the workplace, giving
users seamless access to data and information to
significantly enhance productivity levels.
