making introductions, reviewing plans, referring
resources, or supporting a field trial.
“The challenge can be learning what is happening with Purdue entrepreneurs to know if and
how to plug in,” Liggett says. “Several visionaries
organized the Silicon Valley Boiler Innovation
Group, which intentionally keeps up with Purdue
entrepreneurs and the support they need.”
THE INVESTOR
Paul Stahura (ECE’84, MS ECE’87) is cofounder
of Donuts Inc., a domain-name registry. He supports Purdue Foundry–connected entrepreneurs
by financially supporting an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Foundry and providing funding to
PURDUEFORLIFE .ORG
Novilytic, a biochemistry analytics company.
“When I was at Purdue, entrepreneurship
wasn’t a point of emphasis,” Stahura says.
“ The University makes
great engineers, scientists, and businesspeople who might work for
Boeing, Microsoft, and
other giant companies.
But the University has to
graduate entrepreneurs
as well. Small businesses
are engines of economic
growth—not only in Indiana but across the U.S.
and the world. I’m pleased
with this increased focus
on entrepreneurship.”
