Becky (Steele) Baud (S’17) and Will Baud (ChE’18)
We met at Windsor Dining Court while we were having
dinner with a group of friends from Cru, a campus ministry
group. I had just finished practicing with the “All-American”
Marching Band, sweaty and lugging around my trombone
case, and somehow Will still wanted to get to know me.
He asked me out while walking me back to Hillenbrand one night, and we had our first date at a sushi
restaurant in Chauncey Hill. Over our two years of dating, we made a point of exploring as many
buildings as possible, especially those unrelated to our fields of study. We especially loved to sit in
the courtyard of Stanley Coulter Hall—we didn’t even know it was there for years! We also explored
as many off-limits spots on campus as possible and may have been caught by a police officer after
climbing on the roof of the Purdue Memorial Union (don’t ask how we got up there; they’ve now
