DID YOU KNOW?
Purdue owns approximately
9,400 acres of timberland
along the Pacific Coast, gifted
by New York–based financier
Fed van Eck in 2000 to support
the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center.
The Fred M. van Eck Forest
Foundation for Purdue University was established to manage the two properties—2,200
acres of working redwood
forest in Humboldt County,
California, and 7,200 acres of
Douglas fir and western hemlock forest in Lincoln County,
Oregon. Proceeds from the
timber sales support research
and graduate scholarships.
