Bomela said.
She added that if she had to start all over again she
would go into business earlier in life; particularly
the investments area.
Bomela warns that she has learned over the
years not to take things at face value and to seek
adequate knowledge about people and sectors
before considering them for partnerships or
involvement in business.
She was asked to comment on some of the
challenges women faced in male-dominated
environments.
“As women, we find ourselves in the minority in
these situations and find that we have to put extra
effort to prove our capabilities. There is also the
issue of having the greater society demanding
one thing from women and the work environment
expecting the other, at times, conflicting things.

In many instances women still face an uphill battle
in having their opinion heard compared to that of
their male counterparts,” Bomela said.
Regarding the pace of transformation in the
country Bomela still feels that far too much still
needs to be done and things still needs to be
speeded up.
“I think 24 years down the line from the rainbow
nation miracle we should have done better.
Whether it is with regards to ownership,
management or procurement we will always
find an excuse of why we cannot or should not
transform,” Bomela said.
She noted though that all was not lost as major
strides have been achieved by South Africa in
terms of legislation and policies that encourage
and facilitate women empowerment.
