Fostering 3stepIT´s values and entrepreneurial spirit
3stepIT’s Chief HR Officer,
Staffan Wahlstrom, said,
Continuous Learning & Development
We believe all 3steppers are
talents, and as such our talent
development and review process
is an integrated part of the Game
Plan, ensuring we have open
and reliable talent discussion
and robust succession plans.
Our people are passionate about
learning, never afraid to fail and
always up for the next challenge.
In 2020, we continued our focus on learning and
development. Building on the work of 2019, we continued
to develop and utilise our online training platform, with
mandatory courses on business ethics and modules
covering our code of conduct, anti-corruption and data
security.
We’re proud of our 99% completion
rate for all mandatory trainings.
We invested heavily in our leaders, preparing them to
guide our teams through the next stage in the company’s
growth. All managers took part in a Leadership
Development Programs, which provided concrete tools
and training in coaching, as well as feedback techniques
to boost team performance. Leaders received access
to tools and digital training material to support their
leadership effectiveness in times of crisis and to support
their colleagues to adapt to remote working.
We also defined and implemented a harmonised
performance and development process, known as ‘Game
Plan’, to ensure execution of the business strategy and to
facilitate coaching of performance and skill development.
The foundation of our approach is a twice-yearly,
formal performance, planning and objectives review
for every employee. Our performance management
process includes half-yearly strategic targets, major
responsibilities, skills development and a focus on our
values.
We have big plans for 2021 in this area, including a new
sales academy, to share our industry leading best practise
and prime our team for growth.
In 2020, we launched the “Living Our Purpose” campaign,
which celebrates the reason we all come to work every
day – to take care of the world’s technology. At 3stepIT, our
purpose is more than just words on a page. All 3steppers
play a unique and important role in bringing our purpose to
life, no matter what our job is.
we grow our business, which in turn grows our impact.
Marketing creates demand for our services, making
sustainable IT more popular every day. Our HR team looks
after our people, so we can all perform our best. We all
come to work to create value - for ourselves, our colleagues,
our customers and society at large.
From sales to logistics to refurbishing, we support our
customers to be more sustainable and reduce electronic
waste. Finance crunches the numbers and ensures
The campaign told the stories from across our business of
our people living our purpose, including:
Ann-Jeanette, who realised that even the
most damaged device has something that
can be salvaged – and these spare parts
could be used to improve the quality of lower
grade refurbished devices.
You have to think outside the
box if you’re to find new ways
of thinking. Be positive and
passionate about finding solutions to
problems you’ve spotted. And most of all,
don’t be afraid of change.”
Noora, who has taken charge of promoting
a culture of environmental responsibility at
our Vantaa refurbishing centre, leading the
way in waste recycling..
We each have a responsibility
to take care of our environment,
because that is how we take
care of each other. I am proud of my role
as an environmental manager, as I have a
concrete impact on the responsibility of our
company."
Attracting new talent and acquiring new skills
We’re building a team for the future, so we also continued
the establishment of an in-house talent acquisition
function. Led by our HR specialists, the team is
responsible for building our talent pipeline and ensuring
the recruitment of key positions across the business.
In 2020 we welcomed many new
3steppers to the company, growing
our team to 415 people.
We want to ensure that our company does not contribute
to unnecessary emissions and environmental impact. Our
cooperation with 3stepIT has been an essential part of these
environmental priorities.
Rikard, who forged a collaboration with
a non-profit organisation that organises
courses, meet-ups and summer camps to
inspire young people to get creative with
digital tools.
Through this work we’re taking
our social responsibility even
further, adding value to the work
we do to take care of used IT. Access to
technology is so important for equality and
we’re helping to give young people new
skills and opportunities that they might
otherwise never experience.”
