Zebra Kaleidoscope
This Zebra Bowl created by Somandla
Ntshalintshali and painted by Misiwe Hadebe and
Jabu Nene echo the wonderful spirit of the Zulu
phrase, ‘umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’, meaning, a
person is a person through other people and this
‘oneness’ is something we admire in nature and the
incredible co-dependency of herd animals.
Somandla has accentuated the zebra’s form in a
holistic rhythm, which captures its movement within
a still vessel. Jabu and Misiwe have adorned the
pieces with bold black and white graphic stripes,
adding mesmerizing kinetic beauty.
