God’s Goat
Pomotso Mafura and c Mabaso have skilfully
created a scene of ‘bush theatre’ in this tray that depicts
‘God’s Goats’, taking their evening drink at the river’s
bank. We can sense the impala herd’s tension and
nervous energy. Two impala rams with horns pulled
back are positioned on the handles at both ends of the
tray, rushing around protecting the female lambs who
are all drinking in patterned order, with bent knees
and tails in the air.
