Bachelor Herd
This magnificent Elephant Vase was created by Thabiso
Mohlakoana and painted by Sthabiso Hadebe.
Young male elephants at about fourteen years of age get
kicked out their herd and form a bachelor herd with
other males, often learning tactics from older bulls.
Thabiso has sculpted this scene of young males at play.
Learning their own strength and and inheriting
their pecking.
Sthabiso has added his own vivacious, bold floral motifs
with graphic grey and white patterns that make this
elephant vase sing with beauty.
