ilton Head is proud to be recognized
at the Gold level as a Bicycle Friendly
Community by the League of American
Cyclists. The Town of Hilton Head has gone to
great lengths to provide safe and well-maintained bike paths along all of the main roads.
Riding a bike on the Island can be an enjoyable adventure for the whole family. The at
landscape, over 108 miles of paved bike paths,
and 19 miles of densely packed sandy beaches,
provide plenty of places to ride and take in the
natural beauty of the Lowcountry. Live like a
Local and ride along the beach during low tide
with the warm sun on your face and the sea air
blowing through your hair!
The continuous bike paths lead you to
beautiful landscapes and hidden historical
sights throughout the Island. One of the favorite
places for locals to ride is within the Pinckney
Island Nature Preserve where you can take one
of three different bike routes and observe a variety of lush vegetation and wildlife on each.
Many of the paved paths also extend into the
gated communities, so guests staying there can
enjoy the ease of riding their bikes to the grocery store, a variety of restaurants, the beach
and many different entertainment areas.
