Abby Lirida Peahen is very much loved. But, when asked, ‘what does she do?’, the question seems to confound. At first glance, she
seems to have no hobbies, no passions, no favourite ‘this’ or ‘that’. Or, if she does, even those closest to her know nothing about such
things. It is not because she keeps to herself, or that she hides her light under a bushel. Rather, she prefers to lift the bushel from others,
so their light may shine most brightly.
Abby’s passion, her hobby, her most favourite thing, is to see joy in others. Her grandchildren treasure childhood memories, splashing
with her in the ocean. Strangers become friends as she opens her doors and welcomes them in. Any way she can, Abby Lirida loves
seeing things as ‘better’. Even on the worst, knock-you-down-to-your-knees-and-crawl-into-bed sort of day, Abby will tuck you in, bring
you a warm cup of something tasty, cozy a hot water bottle under the covers, and have you feeling better in two seconds flat. Because
that is just what Abby does.
