For the Financial Year 2020/2021
our CO2 emissions = 64 tonnes
This is equivalent to the yearly average carbon footprint
of just six people in the UK*.
It means we emit 0.86 kg of CO2 per litre of paint. NO other company
even reports this figure and we are pretty sure they would not get
anywhere near it if they did. (In 2020 AKZO Nobel reported CO2
emissions of 12.9 million tonnes against a revenue of £ 7.2 billion and
Scope 3 accounted for 98% of them.)
Whilst anything more than zero is
too much for us, we were hugely
encouraged with how low our
footprint was as a company that
makes and sells products. It is also
worth noting that in assessing the
HQ emissions we included the
premises of Edward Bumer Ltd as
well as the neighbouring historic
house, Court of Noke, as it is lived
in by the Founders.
But we also know that these
emissions can and will be EVEN
less in the future.
To develop our strategy for moving
from carbon emissions to carbon
sequestration we need to look at
the sources of our Scope 1, Scope 2
and Scope 3 emissions.
*According to the Carbon Trust, each person in the UK
has an annual carbon footprint of 11 tonnes of CO2.
