Food and Health & Safety
Two Lead Food and Safety Oïcers have been appointed to oversee operational
management of the Food and Safety Team9s functions. The Food and Safety
Team Manager undertakes a more strategic role than previously.
Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority
Sufolk Coastal Port Health Authority (SCPHA) has experienced signiocant variance
since 2020 while responding to and recovering from the efects of the Covid-19
pandemic.
While trade has begun to return to normal volumes over the last year, SCPHA may
see changes to its services as the Department for Environment, Food and Rural
Afairs (DEFRA) looks to introduce new import controls for EU goods from October
2024 as part of the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM).
Corporate Health and Safety
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in changes in the way services are delivered across
the Council. The Corporate Health and Safety Team has been nexible and able to
support teams through their new ways of working.
The Health and Safety Advisors work with and alongside team leaders throughout
the year. The Council9s internal Annual Health and Safety Compliance Cycle (known
as the Annual Cycle) has been re-introduced. The Annual Cycle requires certain tasks
to be completed within a specioed calendar month which allows for more efective
monitoring of deviation from compliance
