East Suffolk Council Climate Action Framework - Paper - Page 3
Foreword
East Suffolk Council is committed to doing everything we can to respond to the climate emergency, plus enabling
everyone who lives and works in our district to play their part too.
East Suffolk Council is committed to reaching net zero CO2e emissions by 2030. We’re also working with councils and
partners across the county on to help Suffolk reach net zero by 2030 too.
By investing in reducing our footprint, such in energy efficiency upgrades across our buildings and assets, we’ve cut
our emissions by over 35%. Our ongoing major project to decarbonise our leisure centres will reduce our footprint
further, while ensuring these important facilities remain accessible.
This Climate Action Framework summarises the work on reducing our own footprint so far, our wider partnership
programme addressing the climate emergency, plus what we plan to do next.
The great news about addressing climate change is that this action delivers many co-benefits
too, such as improving air quality, boosting wellbeing, lowering energy costs and creating jobs.
Making the right choices to protect our environment can sometimes feel overwhelming.
However, every one of us has the power to make small small actions, which add up
to big change.
Together we can all make a difference and East Suffolk Council will continue to
lead by example.
