HOLISTIC CATCHMENT
MANAGEMENT
Working with:

EA Lead:
Amy Prendergast
In this year of the mul}-year project we worked
with Norfolk Rivers Trust to improve river
habitat between UEA Broad and Gurney Lane
Cringleford.
The river here is very deep and impounded by
nearby structures. Flow denectors were created
with mul}ple layers of logs to encourage
sediment to deposit and plants to colonise on
the inside of meander bends. Sec}ons of alders
were felled and secured in place to create large
woody debris features in the channel. Large
brash berms were created and located to
capture sediment and have the most bene昀椀t.

All of the woody features provide a refuge for
昀椀sh in this reach. Norwich City Council also
improved access and restored habitat.
