BROGRAVE WETLAND
BEAUTIFUL BROADS
Working with:
Broads Authority

Internal Drainage Board
EA Lead:
Rory Sanderson
This partnership project is a con}nua}on of an
Interreg CANAPE project (Crea}ng A New
Approach to Peatland Ecosystems). In essence it
involves plan}ng and maintaining a wet-farming
(paludiculture) trial where drained peat marshes
are rewe琀琀ed to grow reed and mace for a
commercial market.
This has immediate bene昀椀ts for water quality,
bene昀椀ts for carbon management and aims to
test the market development for new wet
farmed products. It is, in essence, a blueprint for
restora}on of drained peat areas in Broadland.
