LOCAL ANAESTHESIA II:
INTERMEDIATE LOCAL ANAESTHESIA
Pending Approval for Credits by VCI
This course will focus on general local anaesthetic techniques such as Local blocks of the head (infraorbital
block, maxillary nerve block, mandibular block, mental block, retrobulbar block) and Thorax and abdomen
(intercostal block, pleural block, epidural).
This course would be bene昀椀cial to participants who attend Local
Anaesthesia I (Introduction to local anaesthesia) and our Critical Care or
Emergency Surgery courses.
What you’ll learn:
• Theoretical knowledge of local blocks of the head (indications,
volumes and complications)
• Theoretical knowledge of thoracic and abdominal blocks (indications,
volumes and complications)
• Practical performance of the local blocks of the head
• Practical performance of the thoracic and abdominal blocks
Theory in the morning will be followed by practical session in the Clinical
Skills Lab.
