Salary & Benefits
£28,000 basic per annum
The starting salary is currently £28,000 per year. The salary figure quoted is for a standard 37.5-hour
week and total earnings can be increased, depending on the number of shifts you work. See below for
rates paid at nights and weekends.
Unsocial Hours
Unsocial hours payments are additional to basic pay. Unsocial hours are the hours worked as part of the
standard contractual working week (37.5), but that are outside of what are considered to be normal
working hours., i.e., nights, weekends and public holidays. These include shifts undertaken at the times,
and on the days, specified in the national agreement and shown in the table below.
The times and the rates of payment for these hours are:

Hours worked between 8pm and 7am on any day
of the week apart from a Sunday or Bank Holiday
30% of basic hourly rate
Saturday
Hours worked between 7am and 8pm on
Saturday
20% of basic hourly rate
Sunday and Bank
Holiday
Hours worked between Midnight and Midnight
of a Sunday or Bank Holiday
65% of basic hourly rate
