Please note that the Agenda for Change salary bands for all healthcare workers is the same in every NHS
Trust throughout the UK. However, dependent upon the location of the NHS Trust, additional high cost

Unsocial Hours Payments
Unsocial hours payments are additional to basic pay. Unsocial hours are the hours worked as part of the
standard contractual working week (37.5), but that are outside of what are considered to be normal
working hours., i.e. nights, weekends and public holidays. These include shifts undertaken at the times,
and on the days, specified in the national agreement and shown in the table below.
The times and the rates of payment for these hours are:
UNSOCIAL HOURS PAYMENTS
All time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any weekday
after 8pm and before 6am
Time plus 30%
All time on Sundays and Public Holidays
(midnight to midnight)
Time plus 60%
Unsocial hours’ payments are worked out using basic salary including long-term recruitment and
retention premiums (RRPs), but excluding short-term RRPs, high cost area supplements, and all other
supplements and payments.
