Voltage testing: All Wiha VDE-tools, which have special markings, are individually
tested at 10,000 V AC and are approved for 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC.
Cold shock test: Cooling down to -25° C. The skinning material must retain its
toughness, so that it doesn’t break when subjected to shock and knocks.
Test of electrical skinning properties: 24 hours storage in water, then 3 minutes test
at 10,000 V AC. There must neither be flashover nor disruptive discharge.
Test of the adhesion of the skinning material coating: 168 hours storage at 70° C,
then test of adhesion at 500 N.
Pressure tests: Test at 20 N pressure load, 70° C temperature and 5,000 V AC test
voltage. No disruptive discharge may occur.
Test of combustion behaviour: The tools are subjected to a flame for 10 seconds.
The skinning material must then extinguish and not continue to burn.
