Louisville, or St. Louis lies an abandoned coal mine...but now one of
America’s top 100.
Built atop Peabody Coal Company’s long-abandoned Victoria strip
mine, Victoria National was a simple routing. Tom Fazio followed
the corridors that existed between mining spoil mounds to build
fairways. 40 acres of 昀椀ngery lagoons were formed where steam
shovels carved out coal deposits that hit the water table. The result:
500 million gallons of water, present on almost every hole.
Today, whether riding or walking, Vic presents a unique experience
every round. You feel it after completing the Gauntlet (some of the
hardest 昀椀nishing holes in golf). The feeling of accomplishment and
grit that makes you look forward to the next round.
Coming o昀昀 18, you’re rewarded with regional fare, inspired by the
close proximity to Kentucky. Barbeque from the club’s pit master
