After first opening in the Swinging
60s, the Royal Lancaster London
combines a rich heritage with
effortless style and service,
ensuring it is now one of the
capital’s premier five-star hotels.
Taking its name from Lancaster
Gate, one of the grand entrances to
Kensington Gardens, the hotel was
originally called the Royal Lancaster,
in honour of Queen Victoria. After
throwing open its doors in 1967,
the hotel became a true embodiment
of the era, and it was here that The
Beatles held their after-party following
the Yellow Submarine world premiere.
The hotel famously also welcomed
Michael Caine during filming of The
Italian Job in 1969, and viewers may
remember ‘Charlie’ checking in for
a night of passion on his release
from prison.
Over the years, the hotel has
continued to host some of the biggest
names in the world, as well as an array
of high-profile events and glittering
occasions. Memorably, it was at the
Royal Lancaster that the late Princess
Diana dazzled in her ‘mermaid dress’,
designed by Catherine Walker for
the Pink Diamond Charity Ball.
To mark its 50th anniversary,
the hotel recently celebrated the
completion of some incredible
multi-million pound renovations,
reimagining its Swinging 60s vibe
with a new ‘premium retro’ interior.
Its unique location also offers
unrivalled panoramic views
across Hyde Park, earning it the
coveted title of London’s ‘most
Instagrammable hotel’.
As the chosen venue for the
opulent Banquet & Beats event, the
spectacular Nine Kings Suite refers to
the succession of English kings who
followed John of Gaunt, first Duke
of Lancaster. Widely acknowledged
as one of Europe’s most technically
advanced events venues, the Suite
boasts state-of-the-art lighting,
sound systems and impeccable
visual technology.
Offering the perfect setting for
experiential occasions, this New Year’s
Eve promises to be like no other.
