Upper school students are placed into math courses based on their prior experience and skill proficiency. Beginning in
Algebra 2, students may choose to pursue our "Analytical" or our "Data and Modeling" options depending on their
interests. By 12th grade, math students have the option to enroll in Single Variable Calculus, Statistics and
Quantitative Reasoning, or Math Seminar: Advanced Topics.

Upper school students choose between Spanish and French. Placement is based on prior experience and skill proficiency.
Beyond level IV, students pursue study of humanities and culture in the language they are learning.

Faculty-led elective courses are focused on topics that students might not find in their core classes or extensions of
existing courses.

Advisories are learning communities of 10-14 students and one faculty member. The advisory curriculum has three strands:
Academic Oversight, Social and Emotional Learning; and Community Building with a commitment to and focus on Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
In the Upper School, students can choose to participate on an athletic team or take an upper school physical education
course (hiking, weight training, or yoga). Upper school athletics include volleyball, soccer, cross country, tennis, basketball,
swimming, winter track, track & field, lacrosse, baseball, and ultimate frisbee.
