employment opportunities and
long term housing that they
can sustain on their own and
maintain a free life!= Housing
seems to be the greatest challenge
for clients once they9ve completed
their program at the Vida Home.
Both Clayton and Jackson
agree that it is an ongoing and
evolving process to expand the
options for long term housing.
FAIR Girls works with other
nonproot organizations that
have apartments, homes, or some
other type of residency with
longer term availability. In the
D.C. area, the D.C. government
does have a lot of initiatives
that some clients could qualify
for depending on individual
circumstances. While clients can
qualify for Habitat for Humanity
or H.U.D., the waitlists are long
and clients from programs such
as FAIR Girls are not necessarily
prioritized.
In Prince Georges County,
where FAIR Girls is looking to
expand, there are some realtors
and investors willing to rent
properties at a reduced rate or
essentially donate properties as
long as they are connected to a
program such as FAIR Girls.
Clayton excitedly suggests,
