a great place for snorkelling and
spotting local fish, starfish and
molluscs.
7AM // WATERSPORTS
Kick-off a day of surf sports and
waterside action at Scarborough
or Trigg Beach. If you’re new to
surfing, book a lesson with the
Scarborough Beach Surf School
to learn the basics of surfing and
surf etiquette. Class times vary but
typically start at 7.15am.
For the more experienced
surfers, hire your gear at Soul Board
Store and head to Trigg Beach —
renowned as one of Perth’s most
reliable breaks. If you’re not up for
hitting the waves, the Scarborough
Beach Pool offers a great place
to get in a few early-morning
laps, while the leisure pool offers a
great option for less experienced
swimmers or young families to dip
their toes in the water.
5PM // NIGHTLIFE
As the sun starts to set,
Scarborough’s nightlife comes alive
and sunset drinks in Scarborough
means cocktails. Famous for its Spicy
Margarita’s and fresh Mexican fare,
El Grotto is a favourite local hangout
— stick around long enough and
experience local DJs or live tunes.
Try The Peach Pit for a range of fruity
cocktails and spritzes, and watch as
the dance floor comes to life after
dark. The Sandbar has the ultimate
sunset vantage point with ample
alfresco dining.
10AM // BREAKFAST
Fuel up after your bout of activity
with a cappuccino or fresh juice
at one of the vibrant coffee shops
or cafés along Scarborough’s
beachfront, before heading up
Scarborough Hill behind the
skate park to watch the locals
carve up the surf. Livid Skate Café
and Knead are both popular
spots with the locals to grab
your morning brew and a freshly
baked bagel.
8AM // YANCHEP LAGOON
The clear waters and warm
temperature of northern Yanchep
Lagoon Beach offers a perfect
opportunity to get up close and
personal with some wild marine
life. Get an early start to your day
to avoid the hot midday sun, and
make the 45-minute drive north
from Perth to Yanchep. Keep an eye
out for crustaceans, octopus and
manta-rays enjoying the shallow
water, or discover the many rock
pools for smaller marine life and
coral formations.
12PM // SNORKELLING
Travel a little further to Mettam’s
Pool, where you’ll find coral
reefs teeming with marine life

12PM // YANCHEP NATIONAL PARK
The crystal caves of nearby
Yanchep National Park offer some
shelter from the rising sun after a
morning at the beach. Explore the
underground limestone caves on
a guided tour, winding through the
many stalactites, stalagmites and
helictites as you learn about the
unique ecosystem of the caves and
how these formations came to be.
There are also a number of walking
trails to explore in the park, with the
Wetlands Walk Trail an easy, twokilometre walk around Loch McNess
and its abundant birdlife.
2PM // HILLARYS BOAT HARBOUR
As the sun starts to really heat up
for the day, head south to Hillarys
Boat Harbour for a late lunch
overlooking the marina. There
are plenty of options for a bite
to eat, but The Breakwater offers
incredible views from its waterfront
deck, while Little C’s is an iconic,
award-winning pizzeria with over 70
variations on offer.
5PM // AQWA
Once you’ve refuelled, make your
way to AQWA to learn more about
Western Australia’s unique under
water world. For a captivating
experience, snorkel with the sharks
in the Shipwreck Coast aquarium
where you’ll come face to face with
seven shark species, loggerhead
turtles and schools of fish.
6PM // DINNER
After a day of exploring, enjoy
a drink and a bite to eat with
spectacular sunset views over the
ocean at Odyssea City Beach.
