DCG Impact Review 2024 - Flipbook - Page 5
FIVE | iMPACT REVIEW
DCG’s strategic priorities are even more pressing
today, both for the students who entrust us with
their futures and for the employers who rely on us
to address their skills gaps at this critical juncture in
the drive for economic recovery.
I would like to pay tribute to all our stakeholders
– and that includes our dedicated staff and our
talented students – for their diligence, versatility
and creativity in helping us deliver our strategic
ambitions over the past year.
As ever, the key to DCG’s impact lies in the power
of partnerships. We are proud of our role at the
heart of an in昀氀uential network of business, civic
and community stakeholders committed to
strengthening the local economy and overcoming
long-entrenched barriers to opportunity and
progression.
This Impact Review provides compelling evidence
that we have already made signi昀椀cant strides with
our distinctive brand of education. We can now
face the future as an even stronger, more agile
and more con昀椀dent organisation.
Our partnerships span employers of all sizes
and sectors as well as their representative
organisations; local, regional and national
government bodies; other education providers
ranging from our feeder schools to top universities;
and the many local organisations who work to
promote greater cultural understanding and help
us engage with hard-to-reach communities.
Together we are a formidable force in ensuring
young people have an exceptional education as
a catalyst for success in work and life. This, in turn,
generates an effective talent pipeline for employers
and improves social justice within our local
neighbourhoods.

OUR CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
The start of the 2022/23 academic year saw Andrew Cochrane
appointed Chair of Governors at DCG. Chairman and Senior
Partner of top 200 law 昀椀rm Flint Bishop Solicitors, Andrew has
been a Governor since 2019 and took over the Chair from former
headteacher Phil Dover.
DCG is a signi昀椀cant community
asset and its continued
good performance is key to
providing young people with
the tools they need to 昀椀nd
secure, well paid jobs.”
Andrew became Chair during a period of governance policy
change, with the introduction of the Skills and Post-16 Education
Act. He leads a dynamic Board which, through its governance
structure, sets the strategy and oversees the enactment of that
strategy, ensuring engagement with stakeholders is embedded in
all DCG activities.
Governors regularly visit College sites, meet with stakeholders
and hear 昀椀rst-hand how DCG’s approach to collaborative working
supports future generations. Andrew actively networks with
business leaders as well as local further and higher education
providers and is the Deputy Lieutenant of Derbyshire.
