Student LifeExtra-curricular ActivitiesThe ISH Extra-Curricular Activities Programme (ECAP) offers a wide range ofafter-school student activities designed to enhance and extend the ISH curriculumby offering a diverse programme through which special talents and interests canbe nurtured.Our ISH mission statement includes a commitment to providea complete educational experience for our students, one whichencourages academic excellence but which also recognizesthe importance of a holistic approach if the potential of ourstudents is to be developed to the maximum. As such, studentsare actively encouraged to engage themselves in extracurricular activities which include the ISH School Band,intramural sports, Model United Nations and many more.CASCAS takes education beyond the classroom and gives studentsthe chance to devise their own Creativity, Activity and Serviceprojects. In doing so, students challenge themselves whilsthelping others. CAS is a fundamental element at the core of theIB Diploma. Emphasis is placed on the experiential learning andstudents should be involved in a balanced challenging range ofactivities. The IB defines CAS as:26Creativity: exploring and extending ideas leading to an originalor interpretive product or performance.Activity:physical exertion contributing to healthy lifestyle.Service:collaborative and reciprocal engagement with thecommunity in response to an authentic need.Students need to take part in activities in each of these threestrands. Students can choose from the range of activitiesoffered in school and supplement them with other projectsoutside of School. They are to reflect on their interests andthe personal challenges they would like to set themselves.They are to keep an up to date portfolio that documentstheir planning, evidence and reflections. Students are advisedto start participating in their projects as soon as possible andneed to be involved with CAS for at least 18 months. Throughout the eighteen months students will have three compulsoryinterviews with the CAS Coordinator.
