Social Enterprise
We welcome the opportunity to engage with local education providers, museums, charities,
sheltered accommodation, care homes and other social enterprises. This activity is created
through our mill shop to create social value alongside our commercial activities.
Regional heritage
We recognise the value in supporting local and national projects to promote Sudbury’s silk
heritage, including initiatives around the Sudbury Silk Festival, giving talks to local interest
groups and supporting the Gainsborough House Gallery.
Local Environment
We work to safeguard the local environment, such as supporting the work done by the
Sudbury Common Lands Charity. Our mill overlooks ancient water meadows and the River
Stour, the area was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 1990 and a County Wildlife Site
in 2007. We maintain an Orchard as part of our site as well as 17 mature trees and dense
shrubbery attracting many birds and inspects around our 9,653m² site.
When holding events or off-site meetings we aim to support local independent businesses
and have formed close relationships with local restaurants and cafes that share our values.
We also aim to use local sub-contractors where possible to support the local economy.
