GUIDANCE & INSPECTION - STEEL WIRE
Particular attention should be paid to those parts of the steel wire
which, as experienced, have been found to be most exposed to wear
and tear. In general, excessive wear and tear, wreckage, deformation
and rust attack are visible signs that the wire is not in the best
condition.
Wear on wire
Attrition is a normal occurrence. By using proper wire construction
(our technicians would like to) you can reduce the wear and tear,
which is then reduced to a secondary factor. Lubrication of steel wire
also reduces wear and tear.
Thread breakage
At the end of the cable's life, wire wires usually occur, due to the
wiring and wear of the wire. If a breakage occurs at a single location,
this may be due to mechanical errors on the machine or equipment.
Correct lubrication reduces internal friction while reducing outer wear
and resistance to output.
Deformations
Mechanical influences can usually cause deformations. This can in
many cases lead to a reduction of the tensile strength of the wire.
Visible rust attacks are due to lack of oil. Rust attacks result in
deformation. Punctual rust attacks on the outer threads may occur
under certain conditions and result in thread breakage.
Inner rust attacks
Incomplete oiling or improper use of lubricant can cause internal rust
attack. Sometimes an inner rust attack can be detected by reducing
the wire's original diameter in certain places. Checks can usually only
be done by separating the cord to get into the wire.
