Inclusion and diversity
Recent government data has shown
that diversity within cyber security has
improved over the last three years, with
several protected characteristics well
represented across the workforce.
Ethnic diversity is particularly encouraging,
with a quarter of all professionals
and 14% of those in senior leadership
positions coming from an ethnic minority
background. One in ten cyber workers is
also neurodivergent (6% in senior roles).
The gender split remains overwhelmingly
male-dominated, however, with just 22%
of cyber security professionals identifying
as female. More positively, this figure has
increased from 15% in 2020.
Our data indicates gender diversity
continues to be relatively good within the
GRC and data privacy spaces, but highly
technical roles still have considerable
room for improvement.
Within many companies, diversity issues
can be difficult to resolve, given that
quality candidates are already extremely
scarce. Despite this, 84% of employers
agree that their organisation currently has
a diverse and inclusive culture, up from
74% who said the same in 2021.
