With biophilic design also trending for both indoor and
outdoor spaces, Kong points to the use of reindeer or Spanish
moss from Amazon, a local home-improvement or crafts store
or a local 昀氀oral supplier. “You can create a green wall, which
is really popular these days, or you can create silhouettes of
hearts made out of moss,” she says. For windows with open
backs, also consider natural items with wonderful scents, such
as oranges spiked with cloves or bunches of lavender, rosemary
or thyme, tied with beautiful ribbons and suspended from the

Have Fun with Wallpaper
If you’re a fan of HGTV’s spate of makeover shows, you know

Recycle and Upcycle
Anyone who’s frequented a Goodwill or Salvation Army store
knows that wonderful furniture 昀椀nds can be discovered. The
bonus is that it’s a choice that’s both sustainable and less
expensive than a new piece. “You might 昀椀nd a beautiful vintage
daybed that’s perfect for draping a robe,” Kong says. “I also
come across people who have an excess of books. They’re not
selling them, they’re giving them away. Either open or showing
beautiful cloth covers, they also work well as backdrops for
merchandise.”
With a little ingenuity, Kong says almost
any found object can become a display
backdrop. “It might be anything from
leftover building materials to tiny
dollhouses,” Kong notes.
