Sequins — Oh, My
What’s better than a lingerie inspiration? Embellishing it with
more-is-more detailing. Among Beyoncé’s bespoke Agent
Provocateur looks was the one-of-a-kind design she wore for
the concert that coincided with her September 4 birthday,
which elevated the lingerie brand’s Mercy Body Stocking via
more than 20,000 handsewn Swarovski crystals. As Agent
Provocateur creative director Sarah Shotton notes, “This look
is channeling equal parts Studio 54-style disco euphoria and
otherworldly cyborg seductress while creating the skimpiest
[and] sparkliest of playsuits!”
Taylor Swift likewise embraced crystals, beading and fringe with
an essential Oscar de la Renta design often seen during her
Eras Tour. For Swift’s 昀椀nale act, which puts a spotlight
on her 2022 Midnights album, co-creative
directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia
conceptualized a custom midnight crystal
and sequin embroidered bodysuit with
draped fringe necklaces, which required
more than 350 hours of handcraft and
more than 5,300 hand-embroidered
crystals and beads, purposely placed to
catch the light onstage.
