“Customers are still seeking the relaxed comfort of wire-free bras.
Now that many are back to work in the office, there’s a need for more

quinceaneras, travel and the like), women seek more solutionbased shapewear.
“New, innovative multi-solution products that solve multiple
problems and are lightweight, breathable and modern” are
the next big thing, according to Dominique Intimates president
Cynthia M. Kelly. She cites minimizer bras; shapers that target
specific areas of the body (i.e., waist, hips, tummy, butt or
upper arms); and backless, strapless full-figure shapers as
bestsellers. Seamless styles are worn for everyday wear and
sexy lace silhouettes, like their Estrada x Dominique bustier,
are for date night.
“Customers are still seeking the relaxed
comfort of wire-free bras,” she adds.
“Now that many are back to work in
the office, there’s a need for more
structured support and shaping.”
That doesn’t mean women will
return to thick, restrictive girdles
anytime soon. In the future,
“the fabric of shapewear
has to be reinvented,”
says A gar wala. “It has
to be lighter, thinner
and completely sheer.
Shapewear that not only
contours the body but is
so sheer that it becomes
provocative and sensual
FAJITEX
simultaneously.”
To this end,
industry leaders
must keep
reimagining the
category with
innovations
in materials,
construction and
styles that reflect
women’s everevolving needs.
