As a co-chair of the 2024 Met Gala at New York’s
Metropolitan Museum of Art, Zendaya without
question was among the night’s most anticipated
arrivals. When she turned up on the museum’s
famed steps, she didn’t disappoint, wearing a Maison
Margiela Artisanal custom gown that featured a satin
corset as its focus, with swaths of lamé and organza
fabrics in electric green and brilliant blue wrapped
around it in an artful, asymmetrical fashion. The
draping was perfection, but the corset — coupled
with a hat by Philip Treacy, designed using veiling
and stockings — proved that Zendaya’s desire for
the evening was to evoke the smoky sexuality of a
timeless Parisienne.
