HISTORY:
Carlson Park is a passive park that covers an area of 2.66 acres located at the intersection of Braddock
Drive and Motor Avenue in Culver City, California. Initially develop as a horse racing track and later
as an auto raceway, the City Council of the City of Culver City voted in 1927 to dedicate the space to the
development of the first park in Culver City. It was named after Dr. Paul Carlson, a former resident of
Culver City who was an American physician and medical missionary who served in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
