“IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE” 2000
Monday, January 6 • 4:30PM
Monday, March 3 • 4:30PM
This is an exquisite “food movie” with
cinematography of the preparation of
food not like anything you might have
seen before. The cooking is authentic
and the dishes are shown in detail from
beginning to end. It is also a magical love
story between a chef and his partner
that have been cooking together for
20 years. Their performances are a
symphony in the kitchen and what they
create is tantalizing.
In the Mood for Love is a gorgeous
film that is romantic and yet filled with
incredible tension and suspense. Set
in Hong Kong in 1962, the two main
characters live in the same apartment
building, but they are married to other
people. Their story is complicated and
also heartbreaking. It is depicted with
unusual color, creative timing, and
multiple layers of emotion. Many critics
and viewers call it their favorite romance
film of all time.
