What was New in ’22?
We saw progress toward
our 2025 carbon reduction
goals: We have already
reduced emissions by
~45% (Scopes 1, 2 and 3).
This was accelerated
due in large part to the
pandemic.
We increased our
engagement with
employees around our
climate journey, with
~25% participating in
a work-from-home
energy survey.
For the first time, we
submitted our climate
journey to the CDP
(formerly the Carbon
Disclosure Project).
More than 18,000
organizations reported
in 2022.
The shift to employees
working from home (87%)
allowed us to significantly
reduce our real estate
footprint and save nearly
2 million gallons of water
compared to 2021.
We saw our office
electricity emissions
drop 49% between
2016 and 2022.
We led the effort with
Blue Forest Asset
Management to create a
$50M California Wildfire
Innovation Fund, in
which we committed
to investing $25M.
We sponsored the
San Francisco Business
Times’ first-ever Climate
Solutions Summit and
the 2022 California
Resilience Challenge.
More than 10% of
our suppliers had
environmental
sustainability practices
in place or planned to
implement them.
