Led the effort with
Blue Forest Asset Management
for California homeowners and
communities that meet certain IBHS
criteria to help incentivize them to
decrease their fire risk.
We also led the effort with
Blue Forest Asset Management to
create a $50M California Wildfire
Innovation Fund, in which CSAA
committed to invest $25M. Similar
to Blue Forest’s focus with the
Forest Resilience Bond–in which
CSAA has invested $5M since
2018–the intention is to attract and
apply these investment dollars in
emerging market opportunities for
forest restoration, woody biomass
utilization, and wildfire mitigation.

This is expected to help accelerate
the pace and scale of ecological
restoration across California.
The fund is an important step
toward addressing ongoing forest
management in the state, and will
help protect our customers and
communities from wildfire while
supporting local economies.
A More Sustainable Supply Chain
CSAA is currently evaluating the
inclusion of Scope 3 emissions for
our suppliers. As part of this work,
we surveyed our 1,565 suppliers,
and of the 338 that responded,
48% (or 10.3% of our total suppliers)
already had an environmental
sustainability policy or practice in
place or planned to implement one.
A new Strategic Sourcing leader
joined CSAA, providing renewed
focus on procurement and
expectations for 2023. We are
implementing a supplier registration
portal through which suppliers
can contact CSAA to share their
interest in doing business with us
and supporting our sustainable
procurement objectives. We are
working on a new Supplier Code
of Conduct that addresses some
key areas, such as Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
}
compliance and the California
Transparency in Supply Chain Act.
To show our commitment to
supplier ESG, we will be focusing
dedicated resources to continue
to drive progress in this space.
