Scaling Good Fire to Prevent Destructive Wildfires
Reinventing Climate Insurance
BurnBot’s mission is to prevent
destructive wildfires by scaling
precision fuel treatment. It does this
by fortifying at-risk communities
from destructive wildfires by
removing hazardous fuel loads in
their vicinity and reducing ignition
risk around infrastructure, such
as roads and powerlines. BurnBot
believes that partnering with reinsurance and insurance companies
to create insurance programs for
fuel treatment will not only expand
its reach but also enable sustainable
and ongoing fuel-treatment programs
within communities.
BurnBot aims to systematically
create and maintain fuel breaks and
defensible spaces in and around
the 500 most at-risk, vulnerable
U.S. communities and their critical
infrastructures. Based on its
experience working with frontline
communities in California, BurnBot
believes it can increase the existing
fuel-treatment capacity tenfold
by 2030, fortifying these at-risk
communities, saving lives and
protecting property from wildfires.

the technology that powers them.
It works with insurers, financial
institutions, and governments to
deploy solutions that provide instant
and direct payments–also known
as parametric insurance–to those
in need after a natural disaster,
protecting communities and
individuals from the financial impacts
of these events.
By providing a vertically integrated
and modular architecture that allows
it to design, deploy, and embed

2030, Raincoat hopes to transform
how financial and insurance industries
approach climate disaster risks.
