Climate Resilient Energy Employment
for the Disadvantaged (CREED)
Flipp, Inc.’s CREED Project, a
40-hour accelerated, compressed
NABCEP (North American Board
of Certified Energy Practitioners)
solar certification course is a
groundbreaking training initiative for
the Virginia Congressional District
5 for justice-impacted individuals
being released back into Albemarle,
Buckingham and Prince Edward
counties. The purpose of the
CREED project is to implement
an innovative clean energy workercentered strategy that leverages
the strengths of our communities
using a community collaborative
diverse, equitable, inclusive,
accessibility (DEIA) model.
As part of the scaling strategy,
CREED will develop additional
program offerings, including
targeting opportunities for youth
from historically marginalized
populations and communities,
scaling the existing statewide
model to a national model that
encompasses multiple economic
regions outside of Virginia
and Georgia, and providing a
nationally recognized paid training
apprenticeship program for the
disadvantaged within the
renewable energy sector that
will lead to full-time employment.

Latino
Resilience Hub Network
Building a Bridge
Alianza Center is a community-based
nonprofit organization that serves the
growing Puerto Rican and Hispanic
communities of Florida. In 2022, the
center conducted a series of eight
climate-focused listening sessions
and the consensus was clear: There
are not enough local organizations
or entities offering climate resiliency
and disaster preparedness to
communities and
in their languages. The goal of the
Latino Resilience Hub Network is
to ensure these communities receive
the support, aid, and services
they need.
The network–which will include
churches, community-based
organizations, and small businesses–
will bring together partners on the
ground and connect them with key
government entities, disaster-relief
resources, and one another. Alianza
wants to build a regional program
where county and city governments
work through the Latino Resilience
Hub Network to connect with
people who need resources as they
receive aid from the federal and local
governments–serving as a bridge
between available services and the
people who need them.
