small group of companies that have

to our ongoing efforts to create
a workplace that is inclusive and a
place of belonging for all, and we
will continue to advance this work
moving forward.
Advancing supplier diversity
At CSAA, we take supplier diversity
very seriously. Not only do we
want to give diverse suppliers an
opportunity to compete for our
business on an equal footing with
larger competitors, but by diversifying

our supplier base, we also potentially
increase innovation and help the
local communities that these diverse
suppliers are part of, adding new
business opportunities, tax revenue
and income.
In the interest of increasing
visibility and awareness of our
supplier diversity and sustainability
(SD&S) program, we conducted
meetings with our top suppliers
to emphasize the importance of
diversity and sustainability and
influence progression. We also held
conversations with external service
organizations that support diverse
business development, such as the
Western Regional Minority Supplier
Development Council, The Women’s
Business Development Center, and
The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber
of Commerce.
CSAA is also developing a new
Supplier Code of Conduct, including
CSAA’s expectations and values
regarding diversity and sustainability,
our high regard for safe working
conditions, fair and respectful
treatment of employees, and ethical
practices. We are incorporating
sustainability and diversity standards
as part of our supplier contracts
and asking suppliers to provide
sustainability and Tier II (our suppliers'
suppliers and subcontractors) diverse
spend. In 2023, we also launched a
supplier diversity and sustainability
survey (which we will send annually),
issued to 56 suppliers (the top 85%
of our sourceable spend) to garner
a better understanding of their
commitments to environmental and
social governance.
CSAA spent $81M with 195 diverse
businesses in 2023—representing 15%
of our total spend with suppliers. With
the emphasis on reducing expenses,
our overall 2023 spend with all suppliers
decreased, but we increased our
spend with diverse suppliers. We also
analyzed and assessed CSAA’s existing
diverse suppliers to leverage additional
capabilities they can provide to support
the business in a wider capacity.
