Crockham Hill October 2024 Newsletter - Flipbook - Page 3
Editorial
The Christmas Season is upon us once again and many of us will be thinking,
where has the year gone? Spring and Summer seem just a distant memory
as we watch the vestiges of autumn disappear, fortunate to witness the
stunning colours of its grand finale.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers for their
feedback. It is lovely to hear about articles you have particularly enjoyed,
puzzles you have successfully completed or pictures that have stirred a
memory. We enjoy your comments and also welcome your ideas and
suggestions for future content that will help us to keep our newsletter
vibrant, current and enjoyable to read. Please keep your ideas coming.
In this December and January issue of our newsletter we are inviting you
to design a robin. You can use any medium you wish, and we welcome
entries from all age groups. Please send us pictures of your creations that
we can publish in our next issue.
In keeping with the time of the year, Terry Blisset has
provided a copy of the first-ever Christmas card, that
appears on the cover. He has also written about
Christmas with Dickens - you will find this inside.
We have also included a short story for children 3 The
Gift of the Little Star.
Regarding America, and having just witnessed the
furore of its recent election, we ask the question, is America weird? We will
leave you to answer that one.
We are planning to hold another Newcomers to the Village party on 19th
January and you can read about the plans for that and how you can be
involved.
Along with all our usual events9 news, WADS have come together to stage
the much-loved story of Peter Pan. Our snippets and news section keeps
us up to date with local happenings, and local photographs. We are thrilled
to welcome two new members to our editorial team, Nicola Spreckley and
Pat Davoll. They will add a new dimension to our discussions and decisions,
and we very much look forward to working with them.
Finally, we would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a New
Year that brings everything you would wish it to.
