Autumn Term at Crockham Hill CE Primary School
Amazing things have been happening across the school during this first
long term of the year. The children love the Autumn term because it is
always busy and includes the Harvest Festival, Remembrance, and ends
with our Christmas celebrations.
The whole school enjoyed our work based on the School book; 8The Lost
Words9. They were keen to participate in the Crockham Hill Village Show
competition. They sculpted insects 3 using tissue paper, wire and iridescent
paper. They planned their work using pen and pastels. 8The Lost Words9
also provided them with the ideal opportunity to produce their own 8shape9
poems based on an animal of their choice.
Our youngest children in EYFS and Key Stage One, took part in a Toy
Experience Day in September, which investigated a range of old toys. They
took part in an archaeological dig, searching for toys and even became toy
makers! They had so much fun and learnt so much about toys of the past.
Most of Key Stage Two took part in a Greek Day where they experienced
what life would be like as an Athenian. They learnt about mosaics, pottery,
oil lamps and offerings to the gods. They went on to learn Greek plays,
which they performed. It was an amazing, immersive experience for them.
In the latter part of the term, we approach every teacher9s best and worst
weeks of the year: best as it is lovely to see the children getting excited
about Christmas and worst because who knows how long it will take to get
the glitter off everything after decorations have been made. We would love
to see as many people as possible at our Christmas Fair on Saturday
7th December from 1pm. Our choir will perform Christmas carols. The
Nativities on the 10th (Reception) and 11th (Key Stage 1) are always a
highlight of the year.
We wish everyone in Crockham Hill a very merry Christmas
