CPR Foundation hosts Wake for Warriors in
Miami
Hoops in the Sun (HITS) Basketball
Program in The Bronx
Wake for Warriors is a water sports therapy program for
amputees and injured military veterans. The program connects
with veterans by sharing their love for wake water sports. They
build lasting relationships with each other during their 4-day
camps around the country. In the last ten years, they have
provided veterans and their families with much needed
resources.
The Foundation sponsored 180 basketball uniforms for
the spring team. Friday, March 10th was opening night
and all Hoops in the Sun players looked and played great.
Our New York members Glenn Hechler and Chris Jones
attended games during the season. “I do believe CPR
Foundation and law enforcement are making a difference
in our communities,” stated Chris Jones, CPR Foundation
member.
Annually, we welcome founder and friend Dave Deep,
Lieutenant Colonel U.S. Marines, and his group of veterans to
participate in the Miami camp and enjoy the outdoor water
sports in South Florida. Each year we host a special farewell
breakfast. We have built a lasting relationship with Wake for
Warriors.
Barry Skolnick, Foundation Co-Chairman, introduced the
Foundation to Wake for Warriors several years ago, and we
continue to support their many endeavors.
Games were attended by hundreds of community
members and local police officers.
Hoops in the Sun is a community-based basketball
program dealing primarily in the “streetball industry”. The
Hoops in the Sun basketball program is held at Orchard
Beach in The Bronx, New York. The program has expanded
to over 50 teams ranging from ages 10 years and older
including elementary, high school, college, and NBA
players.
