Foundation sponsored the “Miami-Dade County” Police Department Turnaround Police
Academy (TAP) Graduation
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDCPD) has numerous programs and initiatives to help keep streets safe,
protect children and better the community through second chance programs.
One of those programs is TAP. TAP is an intense 11-week program, which offers a structured curriculum designed to
instill traditional values and encourage community service. Participants are mandated by the courts to attend at the
earliest stages of the juvenile justice process as an intervention method rather than incarceration.
This year, the Foundation sponsored the March MDCPD TAP graduation. We celebrated the graduation of 22
participants from the academy. Guest speakers included Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, MiamiDade Police Department Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez, Captain Rita Rodriguez, and Lieutenant Cadsali M.
Serralta.
In past services, the Foundation sponsored youth meals for the 11-week TAP program.
