CPR Foundation Presents Award at the New York State Police Troop NYC
Retirement and Awards Dinner
In April, the Foundation was privileged to present the Elite Meritorious Service Award to the Violent Felony Warrant
Squad at the annual dinner at The Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY. The ceremony also recognized the
“Uniform Member of the Year”, “Investigator of the Year”, “Troop NYC Excelsior Award”, and six retirees.
The Foundation table consisted of Al Eskanazy, Glenn Hechler, Dean Giasi, Chris Jones, Justin Aronoff, Chris Hein,
Scott Jaffee, Chad Eskanazy, and Nassau County SPCA Detective Ben Anduja. Guests had a great time connecting
with New York Police Department police chiefs and officers, community leaders, and sponsors.
Homerun Derby and Family Day in Newark, NJ
On June 3, the Foundation sponsored the Newark RBI Baseball organization
“Family Day and Homerun Derby.” The Foundation invited The Newark Police
Department and Chief Manny Miranda to attend and connect with their
neighbors.
There were over 700 participants at the event, between players and family
members. Along with the players competing in the Homerun Derby and for
Golden Glove trophies and medals, players and their families had the
opportunity to participate in a community event that included fun games,
food trucks, a dunk tank with a local officer, and the Mr. Softee ice cream
truck. All the activities included local police officers.
The Newark Police Department thanked the Foundation for inviting them to
the event. They stated that being there helped strengthen community
relationships that did not exist before. This was a real eye opener.
Westchester Square Business Improvement (WSBID)
District Fair at The Square
On June 17, WSBID hosted their 14th Annual Fair at The Square in the
Bronx. Over 4,000 community members, leaders, and police officers came
together. The event included great food, vendors, and entertainment for all
ages! The Foundation sponsored the La Jarra Band, which turned out to be
a huge hit amongst attendees.
La Jarra Band is made up of members of the New York Police Department.
The group plays salsa and merengue and is made up of uniformed
members of the NYPD. The group has been captivating audiences at
community events across the city.
The band helps people see police officers from a more human standpoint
because sometimes when they wear the uniform people feel like they cannot
connect.
